Step1. Go to the Movavi website and download the application version that would run on your platform. Install and run the application and openthe Movavi Video Editor. Select Slideshow Wizard modewhen the welcome prompt pops up.
Click on the Files button to add the photos you would be using for your stop motion video. I recommend that you put all the photos you would be using into a separate folder to make it easier to upload the entire folder when you get to this stage.
Do not worry if you upload pictures that you do not want to use. You can easily hover your cursor over the image and delete it or even rotate it.
In Movavi, each photo would be a slide in your creation. The next step would be to Set the Slide duration, that is, the speed at which you want the frames to move. For instance, the standard speed for a video is 24 frames per second, each slide shown for 1/24 of a second. Then you would need to set the slide duration to 0.042 seconds.
Step2. Movavi Video Editor would set a transition between the slides by default. For stop motion videos, there are no transitions however. To remove the default transition, click on No Transitionsunder ‘Choose a transition style’ which is Step 2 of the Slideshow Wizard. See image below:
Step3. The third step of the Slideshow Wizard is to Add background music. Fortunately, in Movavi, there is a wide selection of royalty-free music in the built-in library for you to use or alternatively, click on the “Audio” button to upload and add your own music.
Do not adjust the slide duration as the speed of the music tempo since this would hamper the speed of your video. See the image below:
Click on the “Finish” button on the bottom right corner of the Slideshow Wizard when you have added or selected your background music. Your project would now be opened in the full feature more where you can further edit it by adding text.
Step4. This fourth step allows you to Add Captions and Titles (Optional) to the video. In order to add titles, you would need to click on the Titles icon, select the pre-made title effect and then apply it to the video by dragging it to the timeline. If you want to enter text, simple double-click on the added titles on the timeline, then go to the preview window, double click on the text, and then enter the text you want.

Now we can start with the tutorial for iMovie. As mentioned earlier, it can only be installed on Apple computers. Assuming you already downloaded and installed the software, open it so that we can get started.
Step1. Open the application and click on the import icon to import all the images to iMovie, ensuring that you upload them in the correct order of sequence.
Step2. Highlight and select all the images in the iMovie library by pressing the Command+A keys on the keyboard. Now you would be able to drag and drop the photos unto thetimeline below.
Once all the images are on the timeline, you can press play in the preview window. You would notice that they play at a very slow rate. iMovie automatically sets the duration for 4 seconds so you would need to adjust the duration time since the default time is too long for a stop motion video.
Step3. To adjust the duration time for each image, go to the top of the preview window and click the i button (clip information). The fastest speed iMovie will allow is 0.1 second, so change the duration time from 4 seconds to 0.1 second.
However, there is a trick to make the video go even faster. Only do this if you think that your video looks clunky and you need it to go faster.
First, export the video by going to File>Share>File.
When the video has been exported, delete all the images from the timeline and drag and drop the exported video unto it.
On the preview window, click thedial icon and change the speed from Normal to Fast.
The video would now be played at a much smoother and faster rate than before.
